Frail

They tell me my will is
Weak.
Temptation’s too much for me to
Defeat.
My resolve is still
Frail.
It won’t endure through the enemy’s
Assail.
I am blind in this
Fight,
Cannot see the stars in this black
Night.
I need to shore up my
Defenses,
Restore me to my
Senses.
Dig trenches along my mind’s
Eye.
Be always weary, looking for the next
Lie.
I must supply my
Resistance,
Listen well, and take their
Assistance.
This spiral is too much to turn
Around,
Before I crash into the
Ground.
To create stronger
Barricades,
Against my addiction’s
Cascades.

Yet, my body and mind feel
Strong.
Could it be that they are
Wrong?
Or, more likely, is this just the first stanza of my
Fight Song.
